14:07 With the participation of more than 500 Cuban, Spanish, Argentinean and Mexican artists for the second consecutive year, from the 26th of January to the 4th of February, the population of Valle de Bravo, in the state of Mexico, will dress to the nines to celebrate the International Ecological Festival of Music.
During the press conference, Claudia de Madrazo, president of the patronage for the musical festival, stated that the object of the event is to present cultural events that contribute to the enrichment of artistic and cultural sensibilities to the local and visiting populations, in addition to addressing ecological challenges and generating a collective conscience of the environmental situation in Valle de Bravo.
For his part, Alberto Labastida, responsible for the environmental aspects of the festival, said that this year they put forth two main objectives: to integrate and to incorporate under one strategy, a group of programs, that until this date, had operated independently, to achieve greater impacts in their areas of influence.
Such as the pushing forth of a program for the neutralization of gas emissions, known contributors to the greenhouse effect, that are generated during the festival´s events.
"The event contributes to the global effort to halt the impact of emissions and to mitigate, to a certain degree, global climate change, by being a `Zero Emissions´ event, neutralizing its CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions with the support and consultation of the program `Neutralize Yourself´ from Pronatura Mexico ", he stated.
Fernando de la Mora, Mexican tenor of international recognition, and singer Eugenia León, expressed their approval and support of this event.
Worried about global warming, de la Mora called for the protection of natural resources, among them, clean drinking water.
"We did not come (to this world) to make money, we came to live, to leave the best of us, however, it is not like this, we are consuming the resources of this world by giant leaps, and it is not right. We have to be mindful of taking shorter showers, of using less water; we must be more conscious of the garbage we generate. I think that if we all cooperate we will be better human beings", he said.
