Elevar a rango de monumento natural de Arco de Cabo San Lucas, es un acto de justicia a un símbolo no solo de Baja California Sur, sino de México y de la vocación que tiene el país hacia el turismo; distinción que se espera ocurra este año.
Así lo dio a conocer el titular de la comisión nacional de áreas naturales protegida (Conanp), Ernesto Enkerlin, quien comento que actualmente una buena parte del Arco esta como área de protección de flora y fauna, sin embargo su verdadera categoría, la que siempre le debió haber correspondido por naturaleza, es la de monumento natural.
“Se le hará justicia a uno de los símbolos del país dándoles la categoría que le corresponde y no tiene ninguna implicación mas allá de las que tiene actualmente como áreas de protección de flora y fauna; la implicación principal será que se le haga justicia a esto tan bello y sirva para su promoción”, insistió.
Abundó que el hecho de que se decrete monumento natural facilitará su promoción desde el punto de vista de las riquezas naturales de México.
¿Tendrá algún beneficio extra dicha designación?, se le inquirió.
“Ser congruentes, en la categoría de monumento natural, es una categoría relativamente nueva en la legislación mexicana, que no exista cuando estableció el área de protección de flora y fauna en Cabo San Lucas.
Desde el punto de vista normativo nos permitirá ponerlo como ejemplo del tipo de monumentos naturales que quisiéramos tener en la lista de áreas protegidas mexicanas”, concluyó.
